Tea Terrace Ridge Walk
A half-to-full-day walk along plantation contours and up to an open ridge. Students record slope, drainage and land use, and hear how hill families adapted to estate life. Suited to younger classes and first field trips.
Each program is a fixed framework with a defined terrain grade, learning focus and season window. We adapt pace, modules and village sessions to your class.
A half-to-full-day walk along plantation contours and up to an open ridge. Students record slope, drainage and land use, and hear how hill families adapted to estate life. Suited to younger classes and first field trips.
Ridge grassland and shola forest pockets across two days, with a village night between. Focus on ecosystem boundaries, water retention and the role of fire and grazing. Moderate climbs on graded paths.
Shorter daily walks combined with sessions on food, crafts, festival songs and forest-use customs led by village elders and guides. Built for social studies, language and heritage groups.

Modules plug into any program and are chosen during the route match step. Water and watersheds traces how ridge grassland stores monsoon rain and feeds streams used by villages below, with simple flow and soil observations along the way.
Forest layers compares shola canopy, understorey and edge species, and explains why these forests survive in valley folds. Plantation landscapes looks at tea and spice cultivation on terraces, contour planting and the working routine of estate and smallholder families.
Living traditions covers seasonal festivals, food preparation, craft work and the place names that encode local history. Map and navigation teaches students to follow a route sheet, read contour lines and recognise landmarks with their guide.
Post-monsoon and cool months. Clear ridges, flowing streams and stable trails make this the main window for all three programs.
Pre-monsoon heat and heavy southwest monsoon rain restrict ridge routes. We offer shorter, lower routes and village-based sessions instead.
